Creating a local install template from scratch

Note: This method is now deprecated, please use the new metalcloud-cli os-template register command. For more information visit Adding OS Templates.

In general lines the process is as follows:

  1. Create os template
  2. Associate assets (dynamic config files) and other binary files that cannot be pulled from a repo directly (such as grubx86.efi)
  3. Use variables and secrets and the built-in variables to customize the configuration files.

We provide templates for multiple operating system types as well as metalcloud-cli based scripts which automate their ‘registration’ into the system.
